U13’s Final Report

Unusually there were three teams on the pitch today as two teams came together, but only one team prevailed!
A combined Senghenydd and Bedwas team came to Machen, and were comfortably beaten by our awesome team.
With 5 players missing through injury or unavailability, and with 17 players up against a squad of 24 from the opposition, our players stepped up and excelled in every department, from 1 to 17 they were fantastic, running out 40-20 winners to finish off the season in style.
Special mention to our forwards who were something else today, with Lucas stepping up to the front row, Calum playing in the second row with Jake, and our makeshift back row of Aled, Archie and Harvey who were absolutely outstanding in every facet of play.
This combined with Siôns quick ball from the base of the scrum alllowed the impressive Jamie to score 4 tries with some clever running. Ben was able to control proceedings at outside half, helped by some fantastic intervention from Oshan, Max, Lewis and Freddie.
Pack leader Ollie, and Captain Sam, were outstanding in the loose, and Jake probably had his best game for us today.
Maddie and Izzy came on in the second half and both contributed to the awesome performance with solid tackling and a couple of good runs.
We said at the beginning win, lose or draw, make sure you come off the pitch having given your all, they certainly did that, and I can’t explain how proud we are of each and everyone of you!
It’s the end of the Easter holidays and you may not have been looking forward to going back to school, but at least you can have the bragging rights, of beating your 2 closest rivals!!!
